What we are doing now...
COT Brewton's programming regularly includes workshops on finances and job readiness, but we also like to have fun! Paint Nights are one of our favorite fun activities. We have partnered with the Brewton Garden Club to maintain the Wonder Garden at Brewton Elementary School, and we love gardening there!
How COT Started in Brewton...
Brewton’s Communities of Transformation initiative began with a book study on When Helping Hurts. Ed Glaize, then pastor of First United Methodist Church, invited others in the community to join him in studying and praying. This group met together regularly for several months. It included pastors and people of faith from various denominations, community leaders, and social service agencies. Out of this time of study and prayer, COT Brewton was birthed.
The Communities of Transformation Advocate in Brewton is Dr. Marsha Raulerson, a pediatrician and woman with a great heart for those who live on the margins. Dr. Raulerson is a bold advocate for children and their families in both Montgomery, Alabama, and in Washington, D.C. Her passion for making change is contagious!
