What we are doing now...
Evergreen is a unique site because of our Community Garden! All of our members work in the garden growing healthy food and more in our raised beds. Working along side each other in the garden is the first step in working along side each other in our community. We all benefit when we work together.
How we started in Evergreen...
Communities of Transformation has come to Evergreen through the work of COT site coordinator and Americorps VISTA Anita Watson. She has an important ally in Reverend Bill Messer, pastor of Evergreen First United Methodist Church. He is a vital part in the preparation and plans for the birth of the COT in Evergreen. He has demonstrated his love and concern for the church and community by leading and being active in Churches United in Missions, Feeding the Gulf Coast and many other initiatives.
As we begin a new conversation, bring people together, and redefine "communities," Pastor Bill says:
"The idea behind Communities of Transformation for involving all facets of a community in relationships for ministry to that community may be the best thing that's happened in church ministry for decades."
