What we are doing now...
We are known for our community garden, but our site has so much more to offer! We love to read and discuss books together; we have a sewing group now for veterans and novices; and we love to cook together! Look for us at school events, church events, and in the garden.
How we started in Evergreen...
Communities of Transformation has come to Evergreen through the work of COT site coordinator and Americorps VISTA Anita Watson. She has an important ally in Reverend Bill Messer, pastor of Evergreen First United Methodist Church. He is a vital part in the preparation and plans for the birth of the COT in Evergreen. He has demonstrated his love and concern for the church and community by leading and being active in Churches United in Missions, Feeding the Gulf Coast and many other initiatives.
As we begin a new conversation, bring people together, and redefine "communities," Pastor Bill says:
"The idea behind Communities of Transformation for involving all facets of a community in relationships for ministry to that community may be the best thing that's happened in church ministry for decades."
