The Central Office is preparing for the upcoming Giving Tuesday for 2020. GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past eight years, it has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
Please mark your calendar for December 1st, GivingTuesday, an annual tradition for COT. This year, we want to focus on increasing giving at the local level. I am excited to announce that we have a matching grant for this year’s Giving Tuesday. We will be able to match the first $500 in donations for each site. All donations must be received on Giving Tuesday. Gifts made online via the COT website will send a notification to Janet Wooten. Gifts received directly by the site will need a copy of the check submitted to the Central Office.
Raising money isn’t as difficult as we sometimes make it. It starts with each one of us making a gift. The amount of the gift is less important than just making the gift. A $10 or $25 monthly gift makes a significant difference. The next step in the process is to make a short list of people you know that might enjoy being a part of the ministry.
Families are taking steps to accomplishing their goals and creating a new network of support by actively participating in the Communities of Transformation program. Volunteers are forming relationships with a diverse group of people, have an opportunity to see firsthand the challenges of poverty, and gain a wider understanding of his/her community. Believing in the cause makes it easier to share with others. Asking others to participate by giving of their time, talent or treasure isn’t something you do for yourself, you do it for those that are helped in our community.
Check out our new donation link to the right on our homepage! We appreciate your ongoing support through your time, talents, and treasures.
